Can You Help Me Get More Details on Having a Career in Therapy?

Question by nikki: can you help me get more details on having a career in therapy?
i’m really interested in becoming an occupational therapist…not a physical therapist.

but are there other catergories that branch off that?
and what’s the difference between a social worker and a therapist, and which is the better route to take?

also, if i could get the annual earnings and educational requirments, that would be awesome.

i really want to do something involving psycological therapy, but i just need to some info to help me decide.

Many require masters degrees, so check your local college’s course catelogue to get an idea of education requirements. Google or Yahoo can get you to a salary index website (don’t remember any right now) which will give you an idea on income. And, try going thru a job search engine to see what is the MQs, or try county gov job postings for social workers or occupational therapists. Maybe someone here can give you some idea, but for the most part, you have to do some reseach.

I work as an art therapist and I really love what I do. Helping people with mental disorders express themselves artistically is just great for me. I have gone through a lot and art therapy helped me a lot and now I am so happy to be able to help others, so maybe you can try to become an art therapist if you are interested. And I live in Montreal ( Canada ) and I earn 45 000 $ a year
